2001 Market Whole Foods

2001 Market St.

The subject site is one of the most visible corner parcels along San Francisco’s symbolic “Main Street.” Located on the southwest corner of Market and Dolores Streets, the site is currently the home of S&C Ford. The surrounding Eureka Valley/Dolores Heights/Castro District/Mission Dolores neighborhoods are some of San Francisco’s most vibrant. The neighborhood is comprised of high-density residential, national, regional and local retail stores, gourmet and casual dining, unique boutiques, and a variety of small businesses.

As one of the most “transit-rich” streets in San Francisco, Market Street connects the Ferry Building and Financial District to the City’s bustling residential neighborhoods with trolleys, streetcars, buses, Muni-Metro underground and BART. The Duboce Street exit of Highway 101 connects with Market Street in front of the subject property. The subject intersection sits virtually at the center of San Francisco, connecting the City’s North, South, East and West districts.

Over the past two decades the City has revitalized Market Street and recaptured its former grandeur with the addition of vintage street trolleys, old world lamp posts and palm trees to create a more appealing and pedestrian friendly environment. Market Street is becoming one of the City’s most exciting retail experiences with the world-class food of the Ferry Building, the new 1.5 million square foot Westfield Shopping Center anchored by Bloomingdale’s, the San Francisco Center anchored by Nordstrom, and the small-scale boutique retail in the neighborhoods of Hayes Valley and the Castro District. The final touches are being placed on the Market Octavia Neighborhood Plan which enhances the existing zoning regulations to create a more vibrant “sense of place” in the Upper Market area with a focus on public transit, neighborhood-serving retail, and high density residential.

This project is currently under construction.
