Go High-Tech at Your Wedding and Save Money

When planning a wedding on a small budget, technology can be your best friend. Free wedding websites and apps can save you hundreds of dollars and hours of stress. My fiancé and I created a wedding website where guests can RSVP, get directions from Google Maps and see our registry all in one place. These days, it just seems silly to not use technology to personalize your wedding and cut costs at the same time. Here are three simple ways to incorporate tech into your wedding.

Photo booth or photo-sharing app — So, you want to rent a photo booth for your wedding but can’t justify spending close to $600 for it. (Understandable.) Instead, use a photo booth app like Custom Booth. All you need are an iPad, some sort of stand or tripod for the display and, of course, props. If you don’t have access to an iPad, tell guests about a photo-sharing app like WedSocial, which allows you and your guests to upload photos in real time to a live feed that everyone at the wedding can view. And don’t forget to create a wedding hashtag!

Playlist instead of a DJ — Between Spotify, 8Tracks and iTunes, there is no need for a DJ anymore. You can create your own customized, personal playlist for your wedding and bypass the middleman. If you use Spotify, however, you might want to upgrade to Premium so the ads don’t interrupt all the fun.

Wedding website with RSVP functionality — This has been such a money saver for my fiancé and me since we didn’t have to pay extra for RSVP or direction cards. Plus, this avenue offers guests so much more information. These websites are so commonplace now that virtually all of them are free and customizable.
