Large Corporate Tenant at Bishop Ranch Expands Leased Space to Occupy Approximately 350,000 Square Feet

San Ramon, CA – Sunset Development Company today announced that GE Digital will be expanding its leased space at Bishop Ranch to occupy an additional 100,000 square feet at the 2600 building, in addition to its existing space at BR3.

GE announced the formation of its software arm in 2009 and then created its regional offices at Bishop Ranch in 2011, initially leasing 240,000 square feet of space in Bishop Ranch 3. With the expansion into 2600, the company will occupy nearly 350,000 square feet within Bishop Ranch.

The Bishop Ranch offices now serve as the global headquarters of GE Digital, led by chief executive officer Bill Ruh. This expansion adds significant capacity for new employees at the rapidly growing organization, in addition to the 1,700 employees currently working at GE Digital in Bishop Ranch. The existing space will also house GE’s flagship Digital Foundry, a hub that allows GE Digital to incubate Industrial Internet startups, collaborate with customers on application development and extend and promote GE’s international developer ecosystem.

“Bishop Ranch has been our home since 2011, and we look forward to continued growth here,” said Mike Karim, General Manager, Global Foundries for GE Digital. “Our location has been instrumental in helping us build our organization, in addition to establishing a diverse ecosystem of customers and partners.”

GE Digital’s expansion comes after the recent news of Rodan + Fields’ deal to lease 150,000 square feet at 2600 as well as other recent leases which include SAP, BlackBerry, Applied Underwriters, TruMark and Systema, which total a half million square feet of leasing as of late.

“With GE Digital’s expansion, we have now leased a half million square feet at 2600,” said Alexander Mehran Jr., president and COO of Sunset Development Company. “We’re honored that so many companies, both large and small, have decided to relocate or to expand their presence at Bishop Ranch. We continue to work tirelessly to create an environment that meets the growing needs of today’s worker at a quality level that Bay Area residents expect.”

Comprising four interconnected buildings on a park-like 100-acre campus, 2600 is at the heart of Bishop Ranch. With its 1.8 million square feet of office space, it is the Bay Area’s largest office building and recently received the coveted LEED® Gold certification. In addition to the buildings’ green credentials, the spaces throughout have been designed to foster the creativity and innovation that drive a successful business.

Beyond leasing activity, Roundhouse Market, now open, includes a unique collection of dining options located in the center of 2600. In addition to the new dining options, Bishop Ranch has already added to the Roundhouse a first-class conference center, year-round special events, a volleyball and bocce ball court, and to come, a state-of-the-art fitness pavilion– creating a one-of-a-kind destination and working environment. Additionally, Dorris-Eaton School provides kindergarten-to-eighth grade education and Bright Horizons offers high quality childcare and early education.

Adding to the list of amenities, City Center Bishop Ranch, currently under construction and slated to open in fall 2018, will have 300,000 square feet of restaurants and retail around a beautiful, one-acre piazza, designed by architect Renzo Piano.

Financial terms of the lease were not disclosed. CBRE represented GE Digital for the transaction.

GE Digital will join other corporate tenants at Bishop Ranch including AT&T, PG&E, Bank of the West, 24 Hour Fitness, Paychex, FedEx and Sprint, among others. The diverse mix of world-class companies in Bishop Ranch is unparalleled, offering a full-service business community unlike any other throughout the region.

2600 is owned by Sunset Development and its partner MetLife.
