REDBURY HOTEL TO BECOME A PRIVATE CLUB

It is not like a WeWork, and it is not quite a nightclub, either. The Redbury Hotel in Hollywood is about to become a little bit of both.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen bought the hotel at 1717 Vine St. near Capitol Records for $41M last year, the L.A. Times reports. It will undergo a $10M reno to transform it into the first U.S. version of The Hospital Club, which he opened more than a decade ago in London with musician Dave Stewart.

The Hollywood club will serve as a hub for creative types to congregate, with a recording studio, lounges and performance space all part of the plan. There will be three restaurants, including one on the rooftop, and a gym and swimming pool.

The Redbury is expected to close in July to make room for the project, which will also offer 36 rooms for rent to the public. [LAT]
