Apple Expands Bay Area Footprint, Again

Apple continues to expand its Silicon Valley presence even after moving employees into its spaceship campus. The tech giant has leased 73K SF spanning two Orchard Commercial-owned buildings at 3000-3008 Kifer Road and 2855-2865 Uranium Drive in Santa Clara, the Mercury News reports.

Apple previously leased a 105K SF building three blocks away along Uranium Drive. The tech company also leased 777K SF in Sunnyvale, has plans for a campus in North San Jose and leased 290K SF from Peery Arrillaga in Santa Clara.

Apple has been on a hiring binge, and tech and real estate experts expect offices at Infinite Loop in Cupertino to fill up even with employees moving to the new spaceship campus, according to the Mercury News. The tech company employs 25,000 in Santa Clara Valley, and could double this number in the near future given Apple’s spaceship can accommodate 13,000.
