Personal Details:

Lan Xuezhao is the former head of corporate development strategy at Dropbox; an engagement manager at McKinsey; and a startup founder. She has a PhD in brain measurement and training from the University of Michigan. Born and raised in China, she currently lives and works in San Francisco.

Lan is a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. She helps fortune 500 companies in the Internet, high-tech and media industries on topics such as marketing strategy, customer lifecycle management, branding and consumer insights.

Previously, Lan has worked at the United Nations (New York) and Siemens. She has a PhD in Psychology and M.A. in Statistics from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, she also did postdoctoral research at Harvard University designing toys that help improve children’s cognitive functions.

Today she will offer a perspective on how organizations can harness big data and analyze it to make optimal business decisions. She will use an example to introduce big data analytics and the McKinsey problem solving approach, and how to translate analytics into business insights.
