NoAbout The PalaceManny Torres Gimenez is an experienced hermit-crab chef, having slipped into the existing spaces of Mr. Pollo and, subsequently, Roxy’s Cafe without fail. Now, the SPQRQuince, and Coi alum has a second restaurant to call home: the former Palace Family Steak House, which he’s dubbed The Palace. While Roxy’s has an Italian bent, The Palace, like its predecessor, is meat-oriented. (Incanto alum Shawn Naputi will man the stoves at Roxy’s while Gimenez dedicates himself to getting The Palace up and running.)

Despite the soaring cost of beef, Gimenez has once again managed to offer a steal of a tasting menu: $50 buys a host of luxury items, including oysters, lobster, quail eggs, and a steak au poivre. In addition to the tasting menu, Gimenez is also offering some a la carte steaks, including an 8-ounce Snake River Farm Kobe ribeye and a one-pound local grass-fed top sirloin, for $30 each. Mary’s rotisserie chicken and some sides inspired by Gimenez’s Hispanic heritage, like yucca fries and plantains, round out the menu. See the full menu here. Though Gimenez is planning to apply for a beer and wine license down the road, he doesn’t have one at the moment, and encourages customers to BYOB, making The Palace even more of a deal.

Along with his wife and general manager, Katerina de Torres, Gimenez made some cosmetic renovations to the 48-seat space, which remains on the casual side. (You can see the duo at work in the photos above.) One major change: the entrance is now through the side door, not the front, as the couple believe the previous entrance may have been responsible for the original tenants’ bad luck. Diners are encouraged to order takeout, and they’ll have some freshly-made juices available to go as well, in flavors like Andean blackberry, passionfruit, citrus, and soursop. There’s a spot to order right next to the chef’s counter. Hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 6-10 pm, with a special late-night menu from 10 pm-12 am. Reservations can be made by texting
