About Bossa Nova

Bossa Nova Flavor.

Created with the look and feel of the Favela, Bossa Nova brings the flavor of Rio’s Streets to San Francisco. The Favela (Rio’s vibrant ghetto culture)is the birthplace of Samba and Bossa Nova. Music and dancing bursts out of dancehalls and clubs into the Streets. The air is fragrant with lime, sizzling churraquinho and fresh seafood. Cachaca flows as freely as conversation. The Favela is the place of the people.

Musica, Danca, Partido

Steeped in Samba with distinct cool Jazz vibe, Bossa Nova was born in the clubs and dance halls of Rio de Janeiro’s south side in the late 1950’s. Complex and harmonic, Bossa Nova evolved from Samba and was embraced by American Jazz artists from Ella Fitzgerald to Franck Sinatra. The breakout single was “The girl from Ipanema,” a collaboration between Stan Getz and the Grandfather of Bossa Nova, Jao Gilberto.
