Where to Watch the 4th of July Fireworks in SF, 2014 Edition

Come Friday, families and friends will gather to celebrate the day the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress by eating grilled food and not going to work. Oh, and there will be fireworks. San Francisco’s fireworks show sets off from the foot of the Municipal Pier and from barges north of Pier 39, so anywhere along Embarcadero is a great spot to catch the show. We recommend avoiding the Fisherman’s Wharf s**tshow and instead opting for higher land like Twin Peaks or Coit Tower. For the the reclusive type we suggest Angel Island or Treasure Island. We’re also quite smitten with an 11 million year old volcanic rock high atop Berkeley that has unobstructed views of the Bay Area (the closest show will be happening at Berkeley’s Marina). Below, a map of where we think you should plop down a lawn chair and enjoy the fireworks. Enjoy!
