Our goal for sustainability is to provide an integrated approach to design that is economically feasible and environmentally and socially responsible. We identify the best practices and implement the most appropriate plan for the project and all of its stakeholders, one that can identify benefits and value on the investment.

There are many green building standards and alternatives to the USGBC LEED rating system such as National Green Building Program, Build It Green and CalGreen. We work together with our clients to identify the standard best suited for the project. As protocols change, we will assess our progress and adjust our process when necessary, but will also ensure that we always provide valuable service to our clients. MBH also participates in the process and the cost of educating our staff to become LEED Accredited Professionals. Research study groups and an extensive library provide all they will need to prepare for becoming a LEED AP. Over 20 of our staff members are LEED Accredited Professionals.

Our involvement with the One Planet Living Community at Sonoma Mountain Village in Northern California has placed us in a position to work with exceptional people who are actively addressing the needs of our environment. The organization promotes understanding of the bigger picture and teaches the best ways to implement strategies for creating more sustainable environments and healthier places to live – now and for future generations. This project is currently one of only four fully endorsed One Planet Living Communities on the entire planet and the only one in North America.
