Vista Investment Group, LLC (VIG) is a privately held real estate investment firm, engaged in the acquisition and value-add asset management of commercial real estate in the United States. Established in 2007, the company focuses on a long-term investment approach, and engages in value enhancement and value creation based on a disciplined investment strategy. VIG focuses on assets with strong current yields and real upside potential through focused renovation and property improvements. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company is primarily focused in the multi-family and office sectors in Southern California.

The Company’s founding principals, Philip Barach and Jonathan Barach, have combined more than 35 years of real estate and investment experience. Philip Barach is the company’s founder and managing principal. Mr. Barach is the co-founder and President of Doubleline Capital LP, a fixed income investment management firm partially owned by Oaktree Capital Management. Prior to forming Doubleline, Mr. Barach was the Group Managing Director of the Mortgage-Backed Securities Group at Los Angeles-based TCW Group, where he managed investment portfolios in excess of $40 billion. Previously he served as Principal Fixed Income Officer at CalPERS, the country’s largest pension fund.

Jonathan Barach, CFA, was previously a Manager at Barclays Capital Real Estate in their Los Angeles office, where he originated debt financing for institutional private equity funds and local operators, including CMBS, mezzanine, bridge, and JV equity structures. Previously, Jonathan was a consultant at FTI Consulting (nyse: FCN), a publicly-traded turnaround and distressed consulting firm. While at FTI Consulting, Jonathan executed independent valuations and workouts on fractured real estate transactions in the US and Latin America. Additionally, he worked on Chapter 11 Restructurings for a number of the nation’s Fortune 500 companies.

Nick Clement is Vice President in charge of Asset Management for the Company. Prior to joining Vista, Nick was the Acquisitions Manager at Starpoint Properties, a real estate investment and operating company based in Los Angeles. In addition to his acquisitions responsibilities, Nick oversaw asset management for a portion of the firm’s multifamily properties.

Sunny Chen Barach, was previously an Acquisitions Associate at The Carlyle Group in their Los Angeles office. Prior to joining Carlyle, Sunny worked for BlackRock Real Estate in their Newport Beach office. Prior to joining Vista Investment Group, Sunny was responsible for the acquisition of over $250 million of real estate assets.

Collectively, the principals directly oversee all investment functions, including acquisition, due diligence, financing, asset management and disposition, and commit their own capital.
