Developer Hudson Companies has filed for two affordable housing buildings that are part of the company’s plan to redevelop the Brooklyn Heights branch of the New York Public Library,TRD reports. The developer won the approval of Brooklyn Community Board 2 to proceed with razing the existing library in favor of building a 36-story condo tower with space for a new library in its base at 280 Cadman Plaza West in July, partially paving the way for the development. The two buildings, which will rise at three adjacent sites at 907-915 Atlantic Avenue (↑) and 1043 Fulton Street (↓), will collectively bring 117 affordably-priced apartments to Clinton Hill.

The building at 907-915 Atlantic Avenue will be the larger of the two, with 78 apartments spread over 54,000 square feet, including a fitness room in its basement. The site at 1043 Fulton Street will give rise to 39 units spread over 28,000 square feet. Marvel Architects, who just wrapped up the project of rehabbing Dumbo’s Tobacco Warehouse into the new home for avant-garde theater group St. Ann’s Warehouse, is the architect listed for both projects.
