知名机顶盒厂商 Roku 刚刚发布了一款流媒体电视棒 Streaming Stick，和之前推出的电视棒不一样的是，新款不再是采用 MHL 接口连接电视，另外，它的价值只有 50 美元，比上代便宜了近一半。

通过 HDMI 插入电视，可以调出 Roku 机顶盒一样的界面，它支持双频 Wi-Fi 连接，1080p 高清视频。Streaming Stick 底部也有一个 Micro USB 接口，用来充电，可通过手机 App 遥控并串流视频，它的运行模式和 Chromecast 几乎一模一样。

不同的是，Streaming Stick 贵了 15 美元，多出的部分是因为它还配备了一个物理遥控器，通过 Wi-Fi 传输控制，不用手机就可以操作，毕竟手机每次都得低头看，还得打开 App 比较麻烦。

另外，Roku 还有一个优势就是内容，这家厂商已经在家庭播放器市场耕耘了多年，在机顶盒设备上拥有广泛的内容源。Streaming Stick 拥有 1200 个应用，即内容频道，无论是互联网流媒体，还是广播电视付费频道都有，还支持 Spotify、Pandora 听音乐。

Roku 以前并不太重视电视棒产品，第一代产品推出后甚至很难在官网找到。理由很容易想到，因为它简单、实用，而且超级便宜，如果 Roku 大力推广这款产品，无疑是削弱自己的机顶盒业务，后者能带来的收入要多得多。

但更晚推出的 Chromecast 火了之后，证明电视棒的市场前景不可小觑，Roku 与其坐视 Google 这些新人抢夺市场，还不如自己动手做。

目前美国的的机顶盒市场主要玩家有 Roku 和苹果，市场还远没有打开，如何做成为每个厂商绞尽脑汁思考的问题，电视棒是其中的一个有趣的尝试，它至少说明了消费者喜欢简单的设备。

但电视棒终究是一个过渡产品，市场仍然需要一款革命性的机顶盒来变革家庭娱乐体验。Roku、苹果以及亚马逊都在准备推出新品，证明自己的模式可行。
