Topic : LEADING TO LEAD: HOW WE CAN USE DATA TO EMPOWER WOMEN TO PURSUE LEADERSHIP

Abstract:  Despite an increase in female careers and leadership roles in recent years, there is still an “elephant in the Valley” – less than 5% of leadership positions in the technology industry held held by women. Even more bleak are the statistics from Girls Who Code – reports say that 74% of young girls express interest in STEM and computer science, but by the time they make decisions about what to study and where to start their careers, something happens.

This leaves us with the question – how can we harness the power of data to collectively people, teach and inspire women and girls to pursue careers in technology? In this talk, Amanda Kahlow will discuss why tech company and data professionals have a duty to use Their resources and knowledge to raise awareness about the issue, inspire action and make change happen. Lastly, she will explain how to cultivate a philanthropic culture that will not only spur profitability for your business, but also empowerment in your employees and social good for communities The
