Possible big news on the hotel front: Word has it that, care of the fine folks at California Home + Design, a hotel being built on 250 Fourth Street in SOMA could be the next Virgin Hotel.

The boutique hotel would go up next to the impending Central Subway station and across the street from Yerba Buena Gardens. While Curbed SF has yet to get confirmation, it appears that a motel/hotel permit has been filed at the address, according to city records.

We spoke with a contractor and an engineer attached to the project. Neither would confirm nor denyworking on a Virgin Hotel project.

The very first Virgin Hotel opened in Chicago in January 2015. Virgin Hotel also has plans on opening spots in New York, Dallas, Palm Springs, and Nashville in 2018.
