Russell founded Atrium in 1991. Previously, he was a General Partner of the Sprout Group, the venture capital affiliate of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Inc. At the Sprout Group, he was one of six general partners participating in the funding of emerging growth companies and other private equity opportunities. Prior to joining the Sprout Group, Russell was an attorney with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City, where he specialized in corporate securities law. Russell received his JD and MBA degrees from Stanford University, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and an AB degree in Economics from Princeton University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was elected to its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
