How Extraordinary Things Happen to an Ordinary Guy 1/3

How Extraordinary Things Happen to an Ordinary Guy.” Peter Pau, Founder of Sand Hill Property Company

May 16, 2015

Peter Pau will  share his life experience on how he has been transformed by unusual failure and success in his business. Recognizing how God has worked through him — molding him into someone he never thought he could be and doing things he never thought he could do — Peter has learned that miracles are real, God is real, and faith makes a difference.

Peter was born in Shanghai, grew up in Hong Kong, and came to the US to attend Cal and Stanford. Peter started his career in real estate development and, after spending time in Idaho, he and his wife Susanna founded Sand Hill Property Company in 1988.

The company is based in Menlo Park and has developed office complexes, shopping centers, industrial parks, hotels, multi-family housing and golf courses in 15 Bay Area cities. Some higher profile projects include: Bridgepointe and Central Park Plaza in San Mateo; Cupertino Village and Hilton Hotel in Cupertino; and Whole Foods in Los Altos and Cupertino. The company’s current pipeline encompasses several million square feet and includes: new offices for Netflix and Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Los Gatos; three office campuses in the Stanford Research Park; the new Main Street and the redevelopment of Vallco, both mixed use projects, in Cupertino; and Marriott Hotel in Menlo Park.

The company remains entrepreneurial and independent, but is one of the most active and creative developers in the Silicon Valley. It has taken on some of the largest and most complex developments, and has accumulated a number of awards.  Peter and Susanna are open about their Christian faith within the company and the real estate community. They have been married for 38 years. Peter and Susanna don’t have children, but do have 7 spoiled birds. They attend Central Peninsula Church in Foster City.
