Landis Architects/Builders is one of the top Washington, DC renovation and remodeling firms. The company is co-owned by brothers Chris and Ethan Landis.  We  have  been in business since 1990, specializing in residential design/build projects in the Washington metropolitan area.  One of the keys to our success is our direct involvement in all aspects of the design and building process. Landis, unlike most other design/build firms, has an in-house design team led by two registered architects.

After graduating from Swarthmore College and then getting his MBA from George Washington University, Ethan Landis formed Landis Architects/Builders.  As a developer/general contractor, Ethan has managed both large and small construction and restoration projects and has worked with real estate brokers and home owners to develop properties for resale.  Ethan serves on the DC Mayor’s Green Building Advisory Council and is a board member of Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) in DC’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.  The CCCB is charged with “reviewing and updating the Construction Codes for the District of Columbia to meet present-day demands for adequate and safe construction and maintenance of new and existing buildings and structures.”

Chris Landis is a licensed architect in four states—DC, Virginia, Maryland, and New York, a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Remodelers Advantage Roundtable (RAR).  After graduating with an MA in architecture from Columbia University and before founding Landis Architects/Builders, Chris worked with Fortune 500 companies, responsible for the design and construction of office spaces in high rise multi-use buildings. Chris has served on the board of DC’s Historic Preservation Review Board and is a past president of the DC chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).  Chris has a depth of experience in design, management, and hands-on construction expertise.

We have more than 40 employees that include award-winning architects, kitchen and bath designers, project managers, carpenters, electricians, and plumbers.  Our skilled team is knowledgeable about residential remodeling, design and construction. We provide excellent design, superior service, honest value and quality construction.
