PLANS UNVEILED FOR MASSIVE WEST OAKLAND MULTIFAMILY

The first plans are in to erect a residential project with up to 572 rental units near the West Oakland BART station. The West Oakland Development Group is working on the project at 500 Kirkham St, and lead managers are Jabari Herbert, the former executive director of the nonprofit Alliance for West Oakland Development, and Keith Kim of private developer DCSI, reports the San Francisco Business Times. The project also includes three community groups. Two hurdles: financing details are TBA and a project partner failed to develop a nearby site in 2007, showing how uncertain building is in that area.
