127-Room Hotel, Condos in Tri-Valley Get City Council Approval

Dublin’s City Council has approved a project calling for a four-story, 127-room hotel and 115 adjacent townhomes, the East Bay Times reported.

The East Dublin project is by Tri-Valley developer James Tong, who pleaded guilty earlier this year to fraud charges related to federal environmental laws.

City Attorney John Bakker reportedly advised the Council to consider the project on its merits when voting, leaving concerns about the character of the developer out of it.

The City Council approved the residential units 3-1, with Mayor David Haubert opposed. The hotel was approved unanimously, the Times reported.
