The Human Bean opened its first store in Ashland, Oregon, in 1998. We now own and operate twelve corporate stores with plans for modest corporate store growth in the Pacific Northwest. The most significant growth of the brand has occurred through franchising.

In early 2002, we began franchising our brand and system. The Human Bean is now 50 locations strong in 8 states with several more pending permits or currently under construction. Our numbers have increased due to the current franchisees’ operational strength and positive attitudes toward the brand and the system. Working together, The Human Bean representatives and franchisees have developed new markets for the specialty coffee and drive-thru industry that have not previously existed. The goal of The Human Bean is to affiliate with determined and positive individuals who are committed to developing the best drive-thru espresso brand.
