Flipkart

Flipkart is an e-commerce company founded in 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal. The company is registered in Singapore, but has its headquarters in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.[5][6][7] Flipkart has launched its own product range under the name “DigiFlip” with products including tablets, USBs, and laptop bags.[8][9][10]

In May 2014, Flipkart received $210 million from DST Global, in July 2014 it raised $1 billion led by existing investors Tiger Global and South Africa’s media group Naspers and in May 2015 it raised $550 million from some of its existing investors. Flipkart’s last fundraising round in May 2015 had pegged its valuation at $15 billion.[11] In February 2016, Morgan Stanley, marked down its investment value to $11 billion.[12]

Sachin Bansal

Sachin Bansal (born 5 August 1981) is an Indian Software engineer and Internet entrepreneur,[2][3][4] known for co-founding India’s e-commerce platform Flipkart.[5][6] Sachin is from Chandigarh and is an engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.[7][8]

Early lifeSachin Bansal is originally from Chandigarh, the capital city of Punjab and Haryana. His business partner, Binny Bansal, is also from Chandigarh. Although they share the same last name, they are not related. They both completed their schooling at St. Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh and coincidentally, were students of computer science engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.[9] Before the tremendous success of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal wanted to become a professional gamer.[10] His father has been in business and mother a homemaker, his brother runs a consumer goods company, he’s married to Priya, who is a dentist and has a four-year old child.
