DraftKings is a Boston, MA, daily fantasy sports contest provider. The company allows users to enter daily and weekly fantasy sports-related contests and win money based on individual player and team performances in five major American sports (MLB, the NHL, the NFL, the NBA and the PGA), Premier League and UEFA Champions League soccer, NASCAR auto racing, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), as well as American college football and college basketball.

As of December 2015, DraftKings was under investigation by state and federal authorities in the United States following allegations that insiders were able to earn money on rival sites using player information.[2] The FBI opened a related inquiry to better understand the business practices of daily fantasy sports companies.

Jason Robins is the CEO of DraftKings, Inc., one of the nation’s leading daily fantasy sports sites. An avid sports fan, he started the company in 2011 with hopes of creating a forum that allowed the public more options when playing their fantasy sports games. DraftKings offers daily games online and through its mobile app in fantasy baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and golf.

“Thirty-five million people play traditional fantasy sports, and by design, most are out of contention long before the season ends. The games we create allow players the option of starting their season over on a daily basis,” said Robins. Since he founded the company more than two years ago had tripled its customer base, with year-over-year revenue growth of 10x.

DraftKings recently closed a $24M Series B round of funding led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation by GGV Capital, Atlas Venture, and BDS Ventures.  DraftKings plans to use the money to fund marketing and acquisition, develop strategic partnerships, and to hire key talent.

“We are even more excited about what the future holds,” said Robins.  “Going forward, we will continue to prioritize customer experience, leveraging both our online and mobile platforms.  Mobile, in particular, will be an area of focus for us in 2014.”

Robins is also active in the Boston community, providing business consultation and speaking at various community events. He also has a keen eye on community service and has created games which benefit various organizations and causes including the American Diabetes Association and the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Prior to DraftKings, Robins was an executive at Capital One and at Vistaprint.

He is a graduate of Duke University.
