History
SimpliVity was founded in 2009 by Doron Kempel. Their first product, OmniCube, was launched in August 2012.
Investment
SimpliVity has raised $276M in venture funding.[5] The company received $18M in Series A funding led by Accel Partners and Charles River Ventures.[6] The Series C round in November 2013 generated $58M and was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.[7] The Series D round in March 2015 was led by Waypoint Capital[8] with Accel Partners, DFJ Growth, CRV, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Growth and Meritech Capital Partners also participating and raised another $175M.
Doron Kempel
Before starting SimpliVity, Doron was the Founder and CEO of Diligent Technologies, a pioneer in Enterprise Data Deduplication. Diligent was acquired by IBM in April 2008. Prior to Diligent, Doron served as Vice President and General Manager at EMC. Prior to joining EMC, Doron was VP Sales & Marketing at Imedia Corporation, a pioneer in digital video distribution. Imedia was acquired by Terayon Communications Systems.
Doron holds Law and Philosophy degrees, and a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard University.
