Profile
Founded in 1836, Emory University is private, United Methodist-affiliated university in Atlanta, GA. In 1915, Asa Candler, founder of The Coca-Cola Company, donated money and land to help Emory expand its campus. The university offers more than 70 majors, 50 minors and over 40 doctoral programs. It is best known for its highly ranked Goizueta Business School and Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Greek life is strong on Emory’s campus, with 30 percent of the undergraduate population participating in one of the school’s 31 fraternities and sororities. The university offers students more than 550 clubs and student organizations, including Project SHINE, a service-learning program that links Emory students with refugees and immigrants who are trying to learn English, become U.S. citizens and/or succeed in school. The Emory Eagles compete at the NCAA Division III level. Over 95 student-athletes were awarded NCAA postgraduate scholarships.
