Profile

Founded in 1848 and affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, offers 40 undergraduate majors and almost as many minors in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences. Muhlenberg also has strong pre-professional programs in areas such as pre-health, pre-law, business and education. More than half of students study abroad during their college careers, and the majority hail from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.There are 120 student organizations at Muhlenberg, including seven a cappella groups, four national fraternities and five national sororities. The college hosts a number of centers and institutes, including the Center for Ethics, the Institute for Public Opinion and the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding. Muhlenberg’s intercollegiate sports teams are nicknamed “The Mules,” and compete in the Centennial Conference at the NCAA Division III level.
