Profile

Located 60 miles south of Portland, OR, Lewis & Clark is a private college founded in 1867. Of 29 undergraduate majors offered, the most popular fields are social sciences, psychology, and visual and performing arts. The school is big on sustainability; its newest residence hall, which was awarded a LEED Gold certification, has furniture made from trees that were uprooted during construction. Students can live with people who share their passions by opting to live in a number of themed residence halls, including a multicultural dorm and a substance-free dorm. Lewis & Clark was one of only 12 colleges and universities in the nation to earn recognition as a top producer of both Fulbright student and Fulbright faculty scholars for 2014-15. In addition, L&C students have won 20 National Science fellowships, as well as 18 Goldwater and six Truman scholarships. The college competes in the NCAA Division III.
