Established in 1870, Ohio State University is a public research institution located in Columbus, OH. With one of the largest college campuses in the U.S., OSU offers more than 175 majors and 285 masters, doctoral and professional degree programs within its 15 colleges. The most popular majors are business, engineering and social sciences. Its personalized study program is open to any student in the arts and sciences who seeks a major that falls outside an established academic department or program. There are over 1,200 student organizations and 69 Greek chapters on campus. The OSU stadium, known as “The Shoe,” is one of largest college football stadiums in the nation and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Ohio State Buckeyes have 36 varsity athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference. In 2014, the football team won the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship.
