Profile
Juniata College was founded in 1876 in Huntingdon, PA. The college emphasizes independent learning: Majors are called Programs of Emphasis, and around 32% of students create their own. The college offers a four-year guarantee, which has ensured that 96% of students graduate in four years or less. Eighty-two percent of students live on campus in student housing spread across 110 acres. Though the school is hours from the coast, it has developed a tradition of welcoming new students with an annual Lobsterfest. Another beloved tradition is Mountain Day, when classes are cancelled and students, faculty and staff take a day trip to nearby Raystown Lake. To prepare students for the working world, Juniata offers many opportunities for students to work in their field of choice, including a stipend of up to $5,000 for un- or low-paid internships. Not surprisingly, some 90% of students graduate with some form of hands-on experience. Juniata competes in NCAA Division III athletics.
