Binghamton University is the premier institution of the State University of New York system and one of the leading public schools in the Northeast. Founded in 1946, Binghamton offers over 130 undergraduate programs and 50 accelerated bachelor and master’s programs. Business/marketing, social sciences and psychology are the three most popular programs of study. The Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science, one of the state’s fastest-growing engineering programs, offers degrees in biomedical and industrial and systems engineering, among others, and attracts a student body that is about 30% international. A fifth building to its state-of-the-art science complex has recently been completed, and it includes a multiclimate greenhouse. This suburban campus is spread across 930 acres that features a 190-acre Nature Preserve with running and biking trails. Modeled after Oxford University, students live in six communities, each with its own personality.
