Profile

Gonzaga University dates back to 1881, but the school officially opened its doors in 1887. A private Roman Catholic university and a member of the Associate of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, Gonzaga has a strong core liberal arts curriculum integrating religious studies, philosophy, mathematics, literature and natural sciences. Students can choose from seven undergraduate degrees in 47 majors, but Gonzaga values the written word above all disciplines—Gonzaga students complete extensive writing projects across most courses of study. They’re also passionate about community service: Students complete some 142,000 hours of service annually. The 152-acre campus overlooking the Spokane River is home to the Crosby Museum, which contains the world’s largest public collection of Harry “Bing” Crosby memorabilia in honor of the famous alum. Gonzaga competes in NCAA Division I athletics.
