Profile

Located in Portland, OR, the University of Portland is a Roman Catholic university that was founded in 1901. Inside its five undergraduate schools, Portland offers specialized majors such as entrepreneurship and innovation management, environmental ethics and policy, Catholic studies and sustainability minors. The university recently built or renovated 12 campus buildings, including a new recreational center; a new residence hall is opening this fall. A landmark building on campus is the Bell Tower, a 100-foot structure that rings its 14 bells daily. Big Bang Theory actor Kunal Nayyar and many professional soccer players (such as Shannon MacMillan, Megan Rapinoe) attended Portland. The school’s women’s soccer program is one of the nation’s best and has won two national championships since 2000. The Portland Pilots compete in 16 varsity sports in the NCAA Division I.
