Profile

Founded in 1874, the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is a private institution with a singular focus on engineering, science and mathematics in Terre Haute, IN. Of its 18 programs for undergrads, students can choose from biochemistry, computer science and software engineering. The institute also provides students multidisciplinary opportunities where they can apply their skills to solving real-world problems. Engineering projects take the spotlight, including the Human-Powered Vehicle team and Engineers Without Borders. But with some 90 student organizations on hand, from the anime society to a paintball club, there are plenty of opportunities to get out the lab. At least 65% of the student body plays an intramural sport, and there are 11 Greek organizations. Just 25% of students are female and there are 42 women on faculty. Ross-Hulman throws an annual bonfire the night before the homecoming football game, and the Fightin’ Engineers compete in NCAA Division III athletics. At least 90% of graduates have a job offer prior to graduation.
