Profile

Founded in 1880, Emerson College is located in the Theatre District of Boston, MA. It is the only college in the U.S. that is exclusively devoted to communications and the performing arts within a liberal arts context. Additionally, the school will launch a comedic arts major in the fall of 2016. The first college to offer undergraduate programs in broadcasting and professional publishing, Emerson is home to WERS, a highly ranked educational FM radio station run by students. There are eight fraternities and sororities on campus and more than 90 student organizations. In its commitment to diversity, the school also hosts multiple events each year to foster cultural inclusion. The Emerson Lions field 14 teams that compete at the NCAA Division III level. The school has graduated an impressive number of successful comedians, including Jay Leno, Denis Leary, Bill Burr and Steven Wright.
