Profile
Clark University is a private university in Worcester, MA, originally founded as the first all-graduate university in 1887. With a storied history including the birth of rocket propulsion and the famed lectures on psychoanalysis from Sigmund Freud, Clark has fostered a dynamic and innovative academic atmosphere. In true Freudian spirit, about 20% of “Clarkies” study psychology. The school also offers 14 accelerated B.A./Master’s programs where the fifth year is tuition-free. Every Spring on a randomly-decided day called Spree Day, kept secret from students, the university cancels classes and holds festival-like events. The Cougars’ 17 teams compete in NCAA Division III. Alumni include two billionaires: Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and Marc Lasry, cofounder of Avenue Capital. Sonia Gardner, another Avenue cofounder, was named to Forbes Richest Self-Made Women 2016.
