Profile

The University of Puget Sound is an independent liberal arts college in Tacoma, WA. Puget Sound’s core curriculum starts freshmen off with two first-year seminars, and students are free to choose from 45 majors in their junior year. The overall vibe is entrepreneurial: In 2015 FORBES ranked it as a top 20 “Most Entrepreneurial College,” noting the prestige of the newly-renamed Thomas Hall, an experiential learning residency that juniors and seniors can apply to live in. Puget Sound’s reputation as a leader in music education is made clear by the School of Music’s four separate bachelor degrees – music, education, business studies and performance – and its wide variety of ensembles, including a symphony orchestra and the Adelphian concert choir. The Loggers compete in Division III athletics and have 23 varsity teams. A new Athletics and Aquatics Center is set to open this fall.
