Profile

Loyola University Maryland was founded in 1852 as the first college or university to be named after St. Ignatius of Loyola. The Jesuit-affiliated private university offers 32 majors and 46 minors – almost one-third of students choose to study business, marketing, or a related field. In addition to its college of arts and sciences, Loyola is home to specialized colleges: the School of Education, and the Sellinger School of Business and Management. In an effort to produce well-rounded graduates, Loyola requires a core curriculum that includes courses in ethics and philosophy, as well as in the fine arts. A popular campus tradition, Loyolapalooza is an annual outdoor spring celebration that features a popular musical act, most recently The All-American Rejects. The Greyhounds compete in the NCAA Division I athletics.
