Profile

With its main campus in Redlands, CA, University of Redlands was founded in 1907 by the American Baptist Convention and became independent and non-denominational in the 70’s. The private university is composed of four schools and eight centers, including centers such as the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies, the Center for Educational Justice, and the Banta Center for Business, Ethics, and Society. Almost half of all Redlands students pursue a business-related major. The university offers a four-week May Term in which students can take an intensive class on campus or go abroad with a traveling class. Its cogeneration and chiller plant allows Redlands to produce the majority of its own energy. Today, the university continues the tradition of having a live bulldog mascot. On the neighboring San Bernardino Mountains lies “The R,” a large stone letter saved by the Redlands community in 1926 that serves as a point of school pride. The Bulldogs compete in Division III athletics.
